Raleigh, NC — Today, the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police announced its endorsement of E.C. Sykes for Secretary of State.
“Every day, I become more saddened by the harshening treatment of our state’s law enforcement. These are individuals who risk their lives every day to keep our children, schools, and communities safe. They ensure that we live in a society ruled by law and order, which is the only way we can continue to live our lives as we always have,” said Randy Hagler, President of the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police. “It’s equally sad to see so many of our state’s elected officials refuse to stand with our law enforcement officers. With regards to issues surrounding Elaine Marshall’s commissioning of notaries public that are not U.S. citizens, she has chosen to side with a small but loud segment of the radical left who wants to see our standard of law and order abolished. The Fraternal Order of Police is proud to endorse E.C. Sykes because we know he has and will continue to stand strong with us and against those who want to put our communities in danger.”
“I am honored to receive the support of the Fraternal Order of Police, law enforcement officials from both sides of the aisle. These individuals and organizations deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. They protect our families and businesses. Weakening the police force puts everyone at greater risk, particularly our most vulnerable communities. Even while confronted by a disgusting amount of hostility from members of the radical left, these dedicated men and women continue to protect our families and communities,” said Sykes. “I am proud to stand with law enforcement and fight against any effort to defund or disband them. I pledge that I will do everything in my power to prevent it from becoming a reality.”
Despite repeated calls for over two months to state her position, Elaine Marshall’s silence has made it clear that she does not support law enforcement as they face calls to be defunded. Given the office’s primary jurisdiction over certain commerce crimes, it is imperative that the Secretary of State have a strong working relationship with law enforcement statewide.
Since the movement to defund North Carolina’s police began, the Sykes campaign has received endorsements from both Democratic and Republican members of law enforcement from all over the state, with more signing on to the team every day.
The Sykes’s campaign first ad of the general election, titled “Support the Blue,” reflects their priority is supporting North Carolina’s first responders. After more than a month, the ad continues to grow in popularity and receive positive feedback from voters.
The Sykes for Secretary of State campaign will continue highlighting Elaine Marshall’s refusal to support North Carolina’s law enforcement. Families and communities deserve to know whether she intends to uphold her oath to keep businesses and communities safe, or whether she favors the lawless goals of the radical left.
