Raleigh, NC — Today, E.C. Sykes released a statement questioning Secretary of State Elaine Marshall’s participation in an anti-capitalist rally and how that alignment with a leftist movement is supporting North Carolina’s economic growth.
“As the radical left’s calls for socialism and defunding the police become louder and louder, Elaine Marshall has remained suspiciously silent when challenged on her position. Let’s remember that she publicly supported and encouraged anti-capitalist movements in the past like ‘Occupy Wall St,’ from which radical leftists like AOC and Bernie Sanders gained popularity. Considering her record of standing against free markets and her party’s movement toward socialism, Marshall should go on the record regarding her position,” said Sykes. “North Carolinians deserve to know, now more than ever, whether she supports the job-killing policies of her friends on the far-left.”
In 2011, Elaine Marshall spoke at an “Occupy Raleigh” rally, where she asked the crowd for their help in advancing her agenda and thanked them for participating in the protest. “Let’s keep marching in the streets and showing what we really believe in,” she said.
E.C. Sykes’ call for Marshall to go on the record about her economic position comes days after the Sykes campaign released its first ad of the general election featuring Cal Cunningham calling her a “career politician” all the way back in 2010.
While Elaine Marshall has continued to remain in hiding, E.C. Sykes has been hitting the campaign trail every day, safely meeting voters and spreading his message of fresh ideas and business experience desperately needed in the Secretary’s office. The Sykes campaign will continue pushing Elaine Marshall to state why she stands with the far-left and what she has done to deserve a seventh term in office.
