Raleigh, NC—Today, Dr. James C. Dobson, founder & president of the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute announced his endorsement of E.C. Sykes for North Carolina Secretary of State.
“It is my pleasure to be among the many conservatives who are supporting E.C. Sykes’ candidacy for Secretary of State for North Carolina. E.C. is a conservative who will fight for our shared values on issues that are important to people of faith. He will be a strong voice in North Carolina and across the nation by standing for religious liberty, speaking out for the unborn, and defending the institution of the family,” said Dr. Dobson. “For years, I have joined millions of people across America in praying that God would raise up leaders to restore this great nation. I am excited that E.C. answered that call and has stepped up to offer his services to the people of North Carolina. As a private individual, I am honored to endorse E.C. Sykes for Secretary of State for North Carolina and pray that his election will be the start of a new generation of leaders who will return this nation to the constitutional principles upon which it was founded.”
Dr. James Dobson founded Focus on the Family in 1977, whose radio programs eventually reached an audience of more than 220 million people in 164 countries. Dr. Dobson also helped found the Family Research Council in 1983, which continues to have great influence in public policy on a national level. Throughout the 1980s, he was ranked as one of the most influential people in the conservative movement. In 2010, Dr. Dobson left Focus on the Family and launched a new ministry and radio program titled Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk which is carried on over 1,300 radio outlets nationwide. He holds 17 honorary doctoral degrees and was inducted in 2008 into The National Radio Hall of Fame. Dr. Dobson has received the following awards: Winston Churchill Lifetime Achievement Award from the Faith & Freedom Coalition (2017), Daniel Award from AZ Christian University (2016), and the Defender of Life Award from the Justice Foundation (2015).
“I am humbled to have the support of Dr. Dobson in my campaign. For decades, Dr. Dobson has been a leader who has advanced the conservative movement, advocating for a return to the principles our country was founded on. Now more than ever, North Carolina needs to return to these principles as the foundation on which we’ll build a future for the next generations,” said Sykes. “Dr. Dobson chose to endorse me because of the North Carolina values that we have built our campaign on. From the day we launched this campaign, we have traveled the state speaking about the need to return to these shared values if we hope to improve the business environment, shrink the government, protect our rights, and make our politicians accountable to the people that put them in office. I am honored to have Dr. Dobson’s endorsement and I will value him as an ally and advisor while in office.”
The E.C. Sykes for Secretary of State’s campaign is committed to informing North Carolina voters that they have a conservative Christian businessman running for office who is excited to serve his fellow citizens. As a man of faith, he has dedicated significant personal time and resources to advising organizations standing for the rights of the unborn. He and his wife, Susan, were homeschoolers, foster parents, and have remained active in their church, where E.C. is a teacher and deacon. As a business leader, he is the only candidate that has the track record and skills to create jobs and reduce wasteful spending.
Every day, the campaign gains new supporters who want change in both the Secretary of State’s office and North Carolina’s state government.
