“24 years is too long. It’s time we have a businessman working to improve our business climate and create jobs, not an ultra-liberal career politician.”
Raleigh, NC—Tonight, E.C. Sykes released the following statement regarding the results of the North Carolina Republican primary for Secretary of State.
“I would first like to thank my opponents, who both ran strong campaigns. All of us are united by the conservative values we all hold dear, and I look forward to working with them to continue to make North Carolina a better place to live. I would also like to thank all of our supporters who pushed us over the finish line tonight—I am truly humbled by their dedicated and passionate support for our campaign’s message, and I hope to count on their support in the general election,” said Sykes. “From day one, our campaign has been about improving the business climate of our state and protecting our shared North Carolina values. As a man of faith who has built a career on managing businesses of all types and sizes, I bring the skills necessary to the Secretary’s office to create jobs and help businesses in North Carolina thrive. Elaine Marshall’s ultra-liberal policies are the only thing standing in our way. Her complete lack of business experience coupled with her 24 year career in politics have done untold damage to our state. I encourage all North Carolinians, regardless of party, who want to see our state reach its full potential to join our campaign—it’s a big tent, everyone’s welcome!”
E.C. Sykes won Tuesday’s Republican primary election with 43% of the vote, defeating the two other candidates in the race. Having never run for elected office before, the Sykes campaign established itself as the conservative outsider with the business experience and values necessary to put North Carolina back on track.
Voters have made it clear that E.C. Sykes is the first candidate who has what it takes to defeat Elaine Marshall since she was elected 24 years ago. The campaign will continue to rally North Carolinians in every part of the state who want to see a strong leader with the business experience necessary to transform the Secretary of State’s office.
